Freelance CRO Specialist - Ecommerce (Remote)

Role Overview:

We are currently seeking a highly experienced freelance Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO) Specialist to join our team. As a CRO Specialist, you will play a crucial role in overseeing and implementing our clients’ conversion optimization programs, working from research and analysis to testing and sharing insights. With a minimum of 5 years of experience, including experience in an e-commerce and consulting environment, you will bring a wealth of expertise to drive the success of our clients’ digital strategies.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact by utilizing your skills in qualitative and quantitative research to identify user pain points, uncover conversion blockers, and understand user behavior. By conducting thorough research, prioritizing conversion issues, and designing and running A/B tests, you will be responsible for optimizing conversion rates and improving the bottom line for our clients.

Your analytical mindset and ability to interpret data will be vital in analyzing test results and deriving actionable insights. By diving deep into data from tools such as Google Analytics, heatmaps, and session recordings, you will identify trends, patterns, and areas of improvement. Your expertise in translating data into meaningful insights will drive data-driven decision-making and enable you to iterate on tests for continuous improvement.

Effective communication skills are essential in this role, as you will collaborate closely with internal teams, clients, and stakeholders. Your ability to explain your actions, convey design ideas, and articulate your findings and recommendations will be instrumental in driving alignment and securing buy-in for your optimization strategies.

Key Responsibilities:


  1. Research:
    • Conduct qualitative and quantitative user research to understand user pain points, identify conversion blockers, and uncover insights that inform optimization strategies.
    • Anticipate user behavior by putting yourself in the customer’s shoes and asking the right questions to identify opportunities for improvement.
    • Act as a Quality Assurance Specialist, ensuring that all elements on the website work effectively before implementing any tests.
  1. Prioritize:
    • Analyze research findings and prioritize conversion issues based on their potential impact on business goals.
    • Identify key areas for improvement and develop a strategic roadmap for testing and optimization efforts.
  1. Test:
    • Develop hypotheses and design A/B tests to validate the effectiveness of different variations.
    • Collaborate with the team to execute tests and ensure proper implementation.
    • Monitor and measure test performance to determine the impact on conversion rates and user experience.
  1. Analyze Results:
    • Analyze and interpret data from A/B tests, analytics tools, heatmaps, and session recordings to derive meaningful insights.
    • Translate data into actionable recommendations for improving conversion rates and user experience.
    • Stay informed about industry benchmarks and use this knowledge to inform testing decisions and hypothesis development.
  1. Share Learnings:
    • Effectively communicate and present test results, insights, and recommendations to internal teams, clients, and stakeholders.
    • Collaborate with designers, developers, and other team members to iterate on tests and implement successful variations.
    • Provide clear and concise reports on test outcomes and the impact of optimization efforts.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in conversion rate optimization, preferably in an e-commerce environment.
  • Previous experience working in a consulting environment is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of user research methodologies, A/B testing, and data analysis.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets and derive actionable insights.
  • Proficiency in using analytics tools, such as Google Analytics, heatmaps, and session recordings, to gather and analyze data.
  • Experience in developing and executing A/B tests, from hypothesis development to test implementation and analysis.
  • Solid understanding of copywriting and its impact on conversion rates.
  • Ability to think strategically and prioritize conversion issues based on their potential impact on business objectives.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills to effectively convey insights and recommendations to diverse audiences.
  • Detail-oriented with a keen eye for quality assurance and a focus on delivering optimal user experiences.
